The Gibson ES-137 Classic in Tri-Burst is a premium semi-hollowbody electric guitar that blends the warmth of Gibson’s traditional arch tops with the sustain and feedback resistance of a solid-body. Manufactured in Gibson's Memphis facility, this versatile instrument features a distinctive flamed maple body, humbucker pickups, and a striking three-tone sunburst finish.
I’m the second owner of this guitar since 2011 and I keep all of my guitars in their case with humidipacks when not playing them. I’m selling this guitar after having it for 8 years to fund another purchase so it is priced to move…but this has been a great guitar! I haven’t played in bands for the last 20 years so this guitar has never left my smoke-free home.
The guitar is in very good condition with only minor wear/issues as noted:
- No major scratches or dings.
- A few scuffs as photos show but unnoticeable unless you are looking for them.
- Some yellowing of the binding at the bottom near the strap peg (see photo)
- Some front headstock blemishes around the tuners as shown.
- Small holes on back headstock where previous owner upgraded tuners.
- All electronics in great working order.
Core Specifications & Construction
- Body Shape: Single-cutaway, resembling a thinner version of the classic ES-175, but with a semi-hollow construction.
- Woods: Laminated curly (flamed) maple top, back, and sides.
- Center Block: Solid mahogany center block, which effectively reduces unwanted feedback and increases sustain.
- Neck: 3-piece maple neck with a comfortable, rounded "C" profile.
- Fretboard: Rosewood, 24.75-inch scale length, featuring pearloid trapezoid inlays and a unique custom "C" inlay at the 12th fret.
Electronics & Hardware
- Pickups: This guitar is equipped with a Gibson 57 Classic humbucker in the bridge and a Seymour Duncan SH-1n humbucker in the neck. I found this combo to be perfect for a wide range of music. It has the ability to rock and play smooth clean tones as well. I’m including the original neck pickup that came with the guitar in this listing as well.
- Controls: Traditional 2 volume, 2 tone configuration with a 3-way toggle switch.
- Hardware: Chrome hardware, featuring a Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge, and a stopbar tailpiece.
- Tuners: This guitar has upgraded Gotoh 510 (21:1 ratio) tuners that I like much better than the original Grover tuners that came on it. I have included the original Grover tuners in this listing.
- Other: You will also notice that I changed the volume and tone knobs to amber as well as the truss rod cover to pearl white. I am including the original knobs and truss rod cover in this listing.
