This is a heavily modified Premier Scroll guitar from the late 50's/early 60's. When I purchased this guitar the body finish, binding, and electronics were completely destroyed. I refinished the body with tung oil. The binding was replaced with two strips of twine. The original pickup was rewound by Tom Brantley and re-installed in the neck position of the guitar. I made a custom pickguard out of acrylic and lined it with copper tape. The mustard wire you can see running to the bridge is the ground wire -- it's running through a channel in the guitar that I believe used to be for a bridge pickup. The bridge is a Tonepros wraparound bridge. The original tail piece is included but is broken and the original bridge was nowhere to be found. Tuners seem to be original (at least 5 out of 6) as well as the output jack/plate. Also the string retainer.
This particular guitars history is a bit of a mystery. There are only a number of documented Scroll guitars and this one is not one of them. The identification plate on the neck says 3626. The body of the guitar seems to suggest that it would have had multiple control panels and multiple pickups, but by the time it made its way to me it was down to just one pickup and the pickguards and electronics were long gone.
Anyway, it's a real piece of NYC guitar history. I've done the best I can to make it playable and presentable. I love the feel of the neck -- it's a total baseball bat and the fretboard is super flat. Oh yeah -- the necks on these were made out of a solid piece of brazliian rosewood. Pretty wild.
Comes with a case (not sure if it's original, but the outside has some tape and stickers and stuff spray painted on it) -- I've added some cushions to keep the guitar more secure inside of it.
Local pickup in NYC. Please message me for more info before buying.
