The Gibson ES-335 is one of the most iconic electric guitars ever produced. Since its introduction in 1958, it has remained the gold standard for semi-hollowbody guitars, offering the perfect balance between the warmth and resonance of a hollowbody and the sustain and feedback resistance of a solidbody instrument.
This 1990 Gibson ES-335 Dot is a beautiful example from Gibson’s early Nashville production era, finished in the classic Cherry finish and featuring the highly desirable Dot Inlays that pay tribute to the original late-1950s ES-335s.
Known for their versatility, ES-335s have been used by countless legendary players across blues, jazz, rock, fusion, and country music. This guitar delivers the rich harmonic complexity, sustain, and dynamic response that have made the model one of Gibson’s most enduring designs.
The guitar is structurally sound, plays exceptionally well, and remains a fantastic player-grade vintage ES-335.
Important Condition Disclosure
During our inspection, we noticed several areas where a previous owner applied a small amount of super glue over lines of natural finish checking.
To properly evaluate the instrument, we removed the pickups and inspected the guitar internally. During our inspection, no evidence of cracks, headstock repairs, neck repairs, or structural damage was observed.
The finish checking itself appears consistent with the natural aging commonly found on vintage Gibson instruments. The applied glue appears to be cosmetic only and does not indicate a structural repair.
A qualified luthier or finish specialist may be able to improve the appearance of these areas through professional finish correction techniques. Please review all photographs carefully, as we have made every effort to accurately document these areas.
