Classic Gon Bops Conga, hand made in California in the 70s (11.5" is typical manufacturer designation but actual diameter varied among these hand-made drums, we measure actual diameter at 11.25"). Period-correct appointments include stunning California Oak stave construction, early 70s Gon Bops logo stamped on head, and flat aluminum center and bottom bands. Featuring top-of-the-line for the era hardware, the International series 3-piece lug assembly and crown with flat rim hooks.
This iconic, historical drum is fully functional and sounds great! All cracks have been professionally repaired. The shell's numerous bumps and scrapes provide testament that this drum has been well-played and now has a rich, full tone. Slight wood shrinkage typical of vintage congas has made the bands loose in some areas. Original hardware shows light vintage patina and oxidation.
