This 1966 Martin 000-18 is a bold- and beautiful-sounding guitar – an example of how great ‘60s Martins can be! Check out the included demo video.
There is some real richness and sparkle in the tone here, and it helps that it has received considerable playtime over the last 60 years. There is an immediacy and evenness in the sound that makes it perfect for recording and great for both fingerstyle and strumming. The neck profile is a very slight “V” with a pretty average depth, and the nut width is 1 11/16”.
I recently had my luthier Jack Dillen perform a refret and setup, so it is in excellent playing shape. The top has a small, cleated pickguard crack, and there are three back cracks (one cleated) as well as a fairly long lower bout side crack. A small maple strip has been installed as a “bridgeplate saver” on the original bridgeplate. The finish, pickguard, tuners, and bridge are original. Although there is a fair amount of wear across the surface, the guitar is in good overall structural shape.
Asking $4,400 here on Reverb (slightly lower on other forums) plus shipping. As a bonus, this 000 comes with its original hardshell case (with red interior lining)!
