Up for sale, a 1981 Fender Mustang complete with a hardshell case, 100% original save for a fresh refret with 6105 narrow/tall fretwire and a bone nut. Made just prior to the end of the Mustang’s original production run in ‘82, this vintage Fender features an ash body, maple neck, and dark rosewood fretboard, weighing only 7lbs 15oz.

There’s plenty of snap, snarl, and cut available from this Mustang, with a certain midrange authority and note attack via the properties of ash as a tonewood. For chiming traditional single coil bite or the model's classic slinky out-of-phase sound, this Mustang is an articulate and clear-sounding Fender that's simply a ton of fun to play, outfitted with the original pair of black bobbin pickups. The Olympic White gloss finish has a yellowed clear coat, with a number of tan lines on the back from removed stickers. There’s modest wear across the strum path and various dings and scuffs consistent with use. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is smooth and inviting, with wear through the gloss on the shoulders and a few shallow marks worn smooth through play.
