dbx 163X OverEasy Compressor/Limiter

For sale is a dbx 163X compressor/limiter in good working condition. This classic single-slider compressor is famous for its simplicity and musical "OverEasy" compression, making it a favorite for recording, live sound, bass, vocals, drums, and keyboards.

Unlike many compressors with multiple controls, the 163X keeps things straightforward with a single compression slider that makes dialing in smooth, natural compression quick and intuitive. It delivers the punch, sustain, and level control that helped make dbx compressors a studio standard.

Inputs

• Rear Panel Line Input: The primary input for standard line-level gear.
• Front Panel Hi-Z Input: A convenient front-mounted 1/4" jack designed specifically for instruments like electric guitar and bass. Plugging into this input automatically routes the signal through a built-in instrument preamp.
• Hi-Z Trim (Rear Panel): A dedicated rotary trim pot that sets the input level of the front Hi-Z instrument connection.

Outputs

• Rear Panel Output: The main unbalanced 1/4" TS output to send your compressed/limited signal to an audio interface, amplifier, or mixer.

Stereo Link (Sidechain)

• Stereo Strapping Jack: Located on the rear panel, this 1/4" jack allows you to link two separate dbx 163x units together using a standard TS cable for synchronized stereo operation.
• Master/Slave Switch: Used when two units are linked, this lets you set one compressor as the master and the other as the slave, so the slider on the master controls both units.

This unit has been tested and functions as it should. Cosmetic condition shows normal signs of use consistent with its age, including minor rack wear and surface marks (see photos). A great opportunity to add a classic analog compressor to your rack.
