Up for sale is a basically mint Yanagisawa T-902 tenor saxophone. This horn is what you'd consider a closet queen. The person I purchased it from got it from Japan and it doesn't appear that it's been played at all. He was more of a Yamaha person and couldn't get used to the ergonomics, so he sold it.
There is one tiny chip in the lacquer on the neck that you can probably see from the image. Other than that, it's such a beautiful horn. From the research I've done, this was a Prima horn made for Prima Gakki in Japan. The T-902 "Special" designation was for no engraving on the bell. Most likely to keep the costs down.
Based on the serial number, I place it made in the early 2000s.
I took it to my tech when I received it and he replaced one pad that didn't really "need" replacing but would keep me from having to replace it in a year or two.
Case is the original Yani case and it's in great shape.
Why am I selling this? I've basically played it a couple of times since I received it and had it looked over. I'm mainly a bari sax player and wanted to try tenor. Didn't really take. I'm definitely a bari guy. I'd rather this gorgeous horn go to someone who will appreciate it and play it than have it sit in my room collecting dust.
The 902 will be professionally packaged by the local UPS store and shipped. If bought on a weekend, I'll ship it the following Monday so it doesn't sit in a warehouse for 1-2 days.
Please keep in mind that it's a woodwind instrument. It may need adjustments after receiving in order to get it playing at its best.
If you're in the market for a Yanagisawa bronze tenor... this is definitely one you won't want to pass up!
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or would like a picture of a specific area.
