This Holton MH 100 marching mellophone is ready to play. It's a rather rare instrument, with many features that set it apart from pretty much anything else that's made. I've always liked bellefonte marching mellophones, especially things like the Conn melophonium, but they tend to be somewhat ungainly and awkward to cart around. This one is a screw bell, so it fits flat in a case and is very easy to transport.
It was originally a high school instrument, so it has moderate lacquer loss and scraping, as well as an engraving from the high school on the valve cluster. The valves themselves are in good condition and they appear to be Monel or something similar with a less shiny finish than chrome. The tubing length is the same as what you would find on a standard valve trombone.
The shank size on this is a trumpet size, and it can also be played with an older Olds trombone mouthpiece which has a slightly smaller shank. The bore through the valve slides is the bore through the valve slides is .465.
As you can see in the pictures, it comes with a case and to mouth pieces, one standard mellophone piece, and one Olds three trombone piece.
