Up for sale, a 2020 Gretsch USA Custom Shop Stephen Stern Masterbuilt G6121CS Chet Atkins in like-new, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell “cowboy” case, CoA, all hangtags and case candy. This Chet Atkins G6121CS was made by (now retired) Gretsch Masterbuilder Stephen Stern in the Gretsch Custom Shop, which, according to Gretsch, is “where the time-honored legacy reaches its creative apex.” Vintage-spec features include a chambered body, Bigsby B6 vibrato with ‘50s spec arm, Seymour Duncan-made DynaSonic pickups, “signpost” Chet Atkins pickguard, and a Western Orange Stain nitro lacquer finish with subtle relicing.
Tonewoods include a chambered mahogany body, a maple top, and a mahogany neck capped with a bound rosewood fretboard. The chambered body yields a distinctive natural resonance and bark, providing an ideal platform for the pickup pair. The Seymour Duncan-made DynaSonic single coil pickups deliver a great balance of power, midrange presence, and top end twang that is quintessential Gretsch. This Stephen Stern Masterbuilt G6121CS weighs 7lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-52 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
