Up for sale, a 1980s ESP Custom Shop “T. Shibahara” Superstrat in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. ESP's Japanese Custom Shop is famous for producing unique handmade instruments for their clientele, built to nearly any specification and catering to all idiosyncratic needs. Ostensibly built for a Japanese guitarist named T. Shibahara, this particular Superstrat boasts a solid ash body, flame maple neck with an ebony fingerboard, DiMarzio pickup pair, and a gloss Pink Sunburst finish.
A true no-frills shred machine, this ESP Superstrat is loaded with a pair of DiMarzio pickups: the D Sonic humbucker at the bridge features an asymmetrical design, wherein one coil has a blade pole design and the other has standard pole pieces. It’s a potent, powerful pickup with tons of output, focused midrange aggression, and smooth treble punch. The neck pickup is an HS-3 stacked single coil, a perennial DiMarzio favorite, offering hum-free performance with a broad low end that's warm and tight with a smooth, glassy treble response. This “T. Shibahara” Superstrat weighs 9lbs 7oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
