Here is the back story of this guitar so you can have a better idea of its condition: A few months ago, I sold a drum kit on consignment through a local shop. Unfortunately, when it came time for my payout, the store was on the verge of bankruptcy and had no cash available. Instead, they offered me this guitar from their storeroom—an instrument that had been tucked away and forgotten after sustaining some minor damage that prevented it from being sold as new.

Since I had originally planned to use the drum money for a new guitar anyway, and the shop's remaining inventory was limited, I agreed to take this PRS in lieu of cash. What I received was essentially a brand-new instrument, albeit with three dings and one broken tuning peg.

To get it back into top shape, I ordered an authentic replacement peg directly from PRS and had a professional luthier handle the installation and a full setup. The original shop attempted to repair two of the dings; I will be honest and say it was a bit of a "quick and dirty" job, which you can see in the photos. A third ding on the corner of the headstock remains untouched.

Once it was out of the shop, I plugged it in and it sounded beautiful. If you are looking for a PRS, you already know that. However, I have realized I am more of a Gibson sound guy at heart.

The bottom line is that this is a virtually un-played, pristine guitar with those first "inevitable" dings already out of the way. While I am listing it in Very Good condition due to the dings, it is otherwise a new, crazy well finished instrument and feels incredible. Also, for those interested, the luthier re-strung it with flat wounds.

The McCarty Singlecut 594 has been meticulously spec’d to deliver a familiar feel and warm, vintage tone, featuring a bound, 22-fret, 24.594” scale length Pattern Vintage neck, a slightly thicker back for enhanced tone and sustain, and 58/15 LT treble and bass pickups, which have been through the TCI (tuned capacitance and inductance) process. 58/15 LT pickups offer exceptional clarity, focused midrange, and vintage character. The McCarty Singlecut 594 model is anchored by a zinc two-piece stoptail bridge with brass saddles and studs for added resonance and vintage-style tuners.

For 2024, PRS Guitars is updating the tuning machines on many of our Core guitars. While, aesthetically, our new Wing buttons are designed to echo the 12th fret bird wingspan design, they were first and foremost designed for tonal reasons all the way back in 1982. Because these buttons are lighter weight than their metal predecessors, they are subtracting less energy from the vibrating strings, thus helping the guitar ring longer and at a more musical note. The removal of the tuner’s locking feature on non-tremolo-equipped guitars further decreases their weight.
