This 1992 Collings OM2H Custom comes from the company’s earliest years, carrying a serial number below 500 and several features rarely seen on later standard production instruments. Built with an Adirondack spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides, it has the quick response and strong fundamental that helped establish Bill Collings as one of the most respected modern acoustic builders of the era. The guitar also appears to retain Collings’ early varnish finish, giving it a softer sheen and slightly different texture than the lacquer finishes more commonly associated with the brand.

The modified V mahogany neck is paired with an ebony fingerboard, while ivoroid binding throughout and a Brazilian rosewood peghead overlay add a refined visual touch. Early Collings instruments like this tend to have a particularly lively, lightweight feel, and this example has the dry, open response that often develops in Adirondack-topped guitars after decades of playing. The OM body size keeps the low end controlled while still offering plenty of depth and headroom under a heavier attack. It remains a notable example from the company’s formative period and is still in exceptional condition.
