Great opportunity to own a vintage Gibson J-45. This beauty is a 1959 that was retopped most likely by Gibson in 1968. I say this because it has the belly down bridge, tear drop pickguard, and at that time had the double x bracing on the top, but retained the slope shoulder shape. It was also refinished at that time.
I’ve since had the adjustable saddle swapped to a fixed bone saddle. Asheville guitar builder Ken Bailey then converted the top bracing to a forward shifted single x brace with a maple bridge plate (last photo). A few marks on the guitar but overall great condition So what is the guitar now? 1959 back and sides with thin 1959 back bracing, 50s style neck and tuners - all original. The top is a thin 1968 top with forward shifted x bracing. Fully set up and ready to go. Comes with a hardshell case.
As you can imagine I’m into this guitar for way more than I’m selling, but it was a cool journey. Happy to answer and questions and share more photos.
