The Boss OD-2 Turbo OverDrive is one of the great hidden gems of the vintage Boss world.

Produced in Japan during the mid-1980s golden era of Boss compact pedals, this Made in Japan black label example dates from approximately 1986/1987 and comes from the highly respected ACA-powered period. Originally overshadowed by the SD-1 and Tube Screamer craze, the OD-2 has quietly developed a serious following among players who actually spend time listening rather than simply reading pedal forums.

And for good reason.

The OD-2 delivers a wonderfully dynamic, amp-like overdrive character with more punch, body and gain than many classic overdrives of the era. In standard mode it provides rich, articulate drive tones with excellent note separation and warmth. Engage Turbo mode and the pedal opens up into thicker, more aggressive territory that feels remarkably close to a cranked British amplifier.

Compared to many modern overdrives, the OD-2 has a wonderfully organic feel under the fingers. Responsive, lively and unapologetically musical.
