Your spell is cast with an opamp blasting a transformer and some germanium diodes (creating an octave up/ring mod effect).

The MITHRANDIR OCTAVE FUZZ stacks perfectly before or after any other dirt you want to throw at it. Absolutely incredible for adding some attack to your bass as well!

This design is my response to the regular requests for an FZ2 “clone”. I’m not big on cloning other pedals and prefer to create my own designs, so THE MITHRANDIR is born.

An octave fuzz is a very different thing from an octave pedal (like a POG or an OC-2 or something)

It’s the most analog, organic thing possible in that a transformer and two diodes take the waveform and cut off the lower half, creating a doubled octave up in the harmonics.

This means it is fully polyphonic but the more notes that are played the more the harmonic content “garbles” into a fuzz effect.

Click off the octave and go into boost mode (or beast mode if you will) with a powerful active EQ which will absolutely decimate the front end of most any Amplifier!

Take that dirty signal and slam it into the transformer and it becomes “octave fuzz”
