Practically new Music Man by Ernie Ball Silhouette for sale. Serial number is G67547. Includes hardshell case. Has a beautiful Sapphire Black finish on the body. This is a more expensive finish not available on the production model. It looks like a lighter, metallic black with a deep sparkle blue. Quartersawn Maple neck. HSH with DiMarzio pickups. Hardtail bridge which allows for better tuning stability, sustain, and a little easier bending.
The only things that could prevent someone from calling this mint are some light pick scratches on the pickguard and one finish scratch on the underside of the neck pocket. These are purely cosmetic and only seen in the right light when looking for them.
Guitar was recently professionally set up. The frets were already level and crowned, but were dressed to ensure that they are nice and smooth. Frets do not look like they have been filed at all and have all their life left. Intonation is as good as you'll find on a guitar. This guitar comes with the Music Man version of the Earvana compensated nut to ensure great intonation near the nut. The intonation is perfect at the 1st fret. The action is nice and low, 3/64ths of an inch at the the 17th fret on the high E string and 4/64ths of an inch at the 17th fret on the low E string.
Electronics:
Master volume and master tone controls. 5-way switch. Comes with two DiMarzio Virtual PAF humbuckers and a custom wound DiMarzio single-coil in the middle.
They come with the DiMarzio Airbucker technology that reduces the magnetic string pull which helps sustain. The neck pickup is an underwound humbucker that is cleaner, brighter, and has a little less output than a typical PAF humbucker. It sounds like a lower wind PAF or vintage P-90 to me. Does not get muddy.
The bridge Virtual PAF has the output and sound of a typical PAF bridge humbucker. A nice and fat tone that retains a bit of twang.
According to DiMarzio, these both use Alnico 5 magnets. The neck has a voltage of 210 mV with a DC resistance of 7.96K. The bridge has a voltage of 230 mV with a DC resistance of 8.32K.
The DiMarzio custom single-coil sounds like a vintage wind single-coil to me. Sounds nice alone and great when used with the humbuckers.
The humbuckers are split in the 4 and 2 positions, when used with the single-coil, and leave the screw coil on so that you get a legitimate Strat in-between, quack tone. A very versatile set-up that can handle any style of music.
NECK: Two piece quartersawn Maple neck. Quartersawn necks are more stable than flatsawn. 24 medium-jumbo frets. Level, crowned, and dressed as mentioned earlier. 10 inch radius. The neck is a medium profile, not too thick or thin. Reminiscent of a modern Fender neck profile.
Music Man necks are finished with a mixture of gunstock oil and wax that leaves a more raw feel. Won't get sticky in your hand when you sweat. Plays faster. The body allows amazing access to all 24 frets. Right up there with a Ibanez RG in terms of access. Allows for really easy playability.
Schaller mini-locking tuners. 4-2 placement for a straight string pull. This guitar stays in tune absolutely great. Has a Music Man version of the Earvana compensated nut. This means that the strings start at different places on the nut to ensure optimal intonation on the first few frets. Nut is cut well and is also graphite to prevent string binding. Wheel truss rod adjustment at the heel to make truss rod adjustments a breeze.
BODY: Has a deep cutaway to allow for awesome access to the higher frets. Select Alder body. The guitar is nice and light, under 7 pounds. Has a beveled, carved top. A stunning Sapphire Black finish. Basically a sparkly, metallic light black. Contoured neck heel to allow greater access to higher frets. 5 bolt neck to add to stability. Has the Music Man hardtail bridge with vintage-type saddles. Very stable. Oversized strap buttons for stability.
