Up for sale is a beautiful Gibson ES-175D 1970's.
The ES-175D is a classic model that continues to be favored by countless jazz guitarists to this day.
This particular instrument is an early-1970s ES-175D featuring a mahogany neck, a “MADE IN USA” stamp on the back of the headstock, and a six-digit serial number.
The guitar is constructed with a laminated maple body, a 3-piece mahogany neck, and a rosewood fingerboard. One of its most striking features is its appearance: the plain maple grain is beautifully highlighted by a bright, naturally faded sunburst finish, creating an exceptionally attractive vintage look. In addition, the metal hardware—including the tailpiece and pickup covers—shows very little tarnishing and remains in remarkably clean condition for an instrument of this age.
Tonally, the guitar is equipped with two patent-number sticker humbuckers. It delivers the characteristic ES-175 sound: rich, full-bodied lows, a sweet and warm tone, yet with impressive clarity. The neck pickup produces a balanced and resonant response across the bass, midrange, and treble frequencies, while the bridge pickup is slightly tighter, offering excellent note separation and articulation with a clear, cutting presence.
In terms of playability, the nut width measures approximately 43 mm, and the neck features a comfortably rounded profile with a moderate thickness that feels natural in the hand.
Considering its age, the guitar remains in excellent cosmetic condition. The neck is in good shape, and the frets show minimal wear, leaving plenty of life for continued use. A strap button has been installed on the upper portion of the neck heel. There are several linear finish indentations around the cutaway area on the top and side of the body; however, when considering its appearance, tone, condition, and overall quality, this is an outstanding example.
With its desirable early-1970s mahogany-neck specification and exceptional condition, this ES-175D is highly recommended both for players seeking a superb jazz tone and for collectors looking for a clean vintage ES-175.
The Gibson hard case shown in the photos is included.
