For Sale
For sale is a vintage Fender Lace Sensor Red pickup in aged white, originally pulled from a Fender Stratocaster Plus Deluxe. This is one of the desirable early 2-wire, non-recessed logo Fender Lace Sensor pickups from the original late-1980s / early-1990s era, before the later design changes that added the green ground wire and recessed logo cover.
This pickup was purchased by me in 2019 as a vintage replacement/spare part and has been kept safely stored since. The original listing described it as working perfectly, measuring 14.7K ohms, with shorter leads from having been wired in the bridge position. The leads can be extended if needed during installation.

Why This Pickup Matters
The Lace Sensor pickup was developed by Don Lace and became one of Fender’s most important modern pickup designs of the late 1980s and 1990s. Xhefri’s Guitars well-known Strat Plus reference site notes that Fender-Lace Sensor pickups were introduced in 1987 and became a defining feature of the Fender Strat Plus series, which helped mark Fender’s post-CBS return to serious American-made innovation. The Strat Plus family was known for Lace Sensor pickups, roller nuts, locking tuners, and modernized performance features that separated it from standard American Stratocasters of the period.
The Red Lace Sensor was the hottest of the classic early Lace Sensor Strat pickups and was commonly used in the bridge position of Strat Plus Deluxe models. Compared with the lower-output Gold Sensor, the Red is a higher-output option intended for players who want more push, sustain, and a fuller bridge sound while keeping the low-noise advantages that made Lace Sensors famous.
Why Buy an Original Early Lace Sensor Red?
This is a great pickup for several types of buyers:
- Restoring a late-’80s or early-’90s Strat Plus, Strat Plus Deluxe, or Strat Ultra
- Replacing a dead, weak, modified, or missing original Fender Lace Sensor Red
- Building a vintage-correct Strat Plus Deluxe-style setup
- Upgrading a newer guitar with an original Don Lace-era Fender Lace Sensor
- Keeping as a spare for a collectible Strat Plus-era instrument
Which one is for you?
Gold Lace Sensor: Approx. 5.8K ohms — vintage Strat-style tone with clear, bell-like highs.
Silver Lace Sensor: Approx. 7.1K ohms — slightly hotter and fuller than Gold, with more midrange.
Red Lace Sensor: Approx. 14.5K ohms — the hottest classic Lace Sensor, with a fat, punchy bridge tone and higher-output response.
Blue Lace Sensor: Approx. 12.8K ohms — warmer, thicker voice inspired by a vintage humbucker-style sound.
Collectors and Strat Plus enthusiasts often seek out these early 2-wire, non-recessed logo versions because they are the correct style for the earliest Fender Lace Sensor-equipped guitars. Xhefri’s Strat Plus documentation is widely referenced by collectors for identifying the early production details, including the evolution of Lace Sensor pickups across the Strat Plus and Plus Deluxe era.
Condition Notes
This pickup is used and shows normal vintage aging consistent with its era. It was previously installed in the bridge position, so the leads are short. It was sold to me as working perfectly and measuring approximately 14.7K ohms. Please review photos carefully for cosmetic condition and lead length.
Shipping
Free USPS shipping with tracking is included for U.S. buyers. The pickup will be packed securely and protected for safe shipment.
