Sinker redwood is rare, old-growth redwood salvaged from the bottoms of California rivers. It was originally harvested in the 1800s but sank to the riverbed while being floated to sawmills. Submersion in silt and mineral-rich water over the last century has given the wood unique coloration and exceptional acoustic properties.
