Description

Up for sale is a classic piece of pro-audio studio history: the HHB CDR-850 Professional Compact Disc Recorder. Known for its distinctive "HHB Purple" chassis, high-end 24-bit converters, and incredible array of studio I/O (including XLR balanced analogue, AES/EBU, S/PDIF co-axial, and optical), this unit was a staple in mastering houses and recording studios.

Current Functional Condition (Please Read Carefully)

This deck has been bench-tested for basic mechanical functionality but has not been fully stress-tested in an active signal chain.

• Power: Powers on instantly. The fluorescent display is bright and fully legible.
• Disc Tray & Drive: The tray opens and closes smoothly. It successfully reads and recognizes CDs right away with no "Check Disc" errors.
• Controls: All mechanical buttons, transport controls, and deck functions respond as intended.
• Untested Features: Because it has not been hooked up to a mixing console or monitor path, it has not been tested for audio playback quality, inputs, or recording functionality. It is being sold exactly as described.

Cosmetic Condition

• Overall: The chassis is structurally sound and ready for a standard 2U studio rack. It shows typical light wear from studio use (minor rack rash/surface scuffs).
• Missing Part: The volume potentiometer is missing its plastic pot cap/knob. The metal post itself is fully intact and turns smoothly, so it is purely cosmetic and easily replaceable.
