The Collings OMI A JL SB is a compact, vintage-inspired acoustic that delivers an impressive amount of tone and character for its size. Its Adirondack spruce top and Honduran mahogany body create a dry, woody voice with excellent clarity, quick response, and surprising projection. The smaller body size makes it exceptionally comfortable to play, while the Adirondack top provides plenty of headroom and dynamic range when pushed. Finished in a beautiful 1-Style Sunburst with classic tortoise appointments and Waverly tuners, it captures the feel of a well-loved pre-war instrument. Responsive, articulate, and full of vintage charm, this OMI offers a remarkably rich voice in an intimate package.

Two of Julian Lage’s primary goals for the OM1 JL model was pure and “honest” tone accompanied by simple, understated appointments. Thus, in the interest of staying true to the concept, we’ve limited customization of this model to a few select options. Among these is an upgrade to an Adirondack spruce top, which offers the highest stiffness to weight ratio of any of the spruces and in effect maximizes tonal potential. We also offer our 1-style sunburst, which blends beautifully with the tortoise bindings and semi-gloss finish, maintaining the minimal and elegant aesthetic of the instrument.
