This is an exceptional vintage Fender Precision Bass featuring a July 1965 neck date, original June 1966 pickups, original 1966 CTS electronics, and its original Sunburst finish.
Like many Fender instruments from this transition period, components often overlap production years. Fender regularly used parts that were already in inventory, making mixed 1965 and 1966 dates completely normal and highly desirable among collectors.
This bass is one of the owner's personal instruments and has been regularly used for live performances and recording sessions. Simply put, it is one of the best vintage Precision Basses we have owned.
Currently strung with La Bella flatwounds, this bass delivers everything players hope to find in a great vintage Precision Bass: huge fundamental, strong output, incredible note definition, and that elusive ability to sit perfectly in a mix while still commanding authority. Even with flats, it remains articulate, responsive, and exceptionally clear.
This is the type of Precision Bass that reminds you why the P Bass became the industry standard.
