Sheryl Crow
Therefs hardly anyone in the gguitarh and grockh scenes who doesnft know this name (though that might be an exaggeration)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to Wikipedia, she has gsold 17 million albums in the U.S. and 50 million worldwide, and has won nine Grammy Awards.h But in reality, shefs a much more rock-oriented, tough, and down-to-earth singer-songwriter and artist.
She is a huge guitar lover herself, and this signature model is a reissue of the g1962 Gibson Country Western,h which she frequently plays on stage.
Although detailed records are lacking, it appears that after this model was initially released as a limited-edition product, the limited production was lifted in response to its positive reception.
* The "A" of "B" indicates the production number (the Ath of B limited units). The denominator was "250" in 2000, "400" in 2001, and by 2002, the denominator was no longer listed.
Since then, there have been opportunities for revivals with modified specifications, such as the 2019 Sheryl Crow Country Western Supreme, limited to 500 units worldwide.
About the 1962 Country Western
Originally, the "Southern Jumbo" existed, and a natural finish was offered as an option (1954?). Later, the natural finish version was renamed the "Country Western Jumbo" (1956?).
* However, at this point, both models featured a round-shoulder body shape.
To put it in terms of the "J-45" standard, the natural-finish version was the "J-50," and the deluxe version was the "Southern Jumbo." Furthermore, the natural-finish version of that model became the "Country Western."
After a model name change to SJN (1960?), it underwent a major transformation in 1962.
ü It became a square-shouldered Dreadnought shape
ü A 3-point pickguard was adopted
Due to this major transformation, one could say that the meaning of the gCountry Westernh name shifted from being the natural version of the Southern Jumbo to, so to speak, the natural-colored version of the Hummingbird?or the version without the bird design on the pickguard.
The Southern Jumbo, having parted ways (?), continued to feature a round-shoulder design thereafter.
One of the virtues of 1960s Gibsons?a neck grip and shape that isnft too thick?remains intact.
This is a delightful guitar with a sound that complements singing?much like the Hummingbird?and shines in an ensemble: it has a defined edge without being harsh on the ears.
Highly recommended not only for fans of the artist, but also for anyone looking for a Country Western model!
