1973 Fender Twin Reverb – Fully Serviced – Rare Dealer-Installed EV SRO Speakers
For sale is a 1973 Fender Twin Reverb in excellent working condition, fully serviced and ready to play.
Cosmetically, the amp remains physically untouched and original, showing honest wear and obvious signs of age consistent with a 50+ year-old amplifier. Electronically, it has been properly restored and serviced while preserving its original character.
This is not a closet queen. It’s a 50+ year-old amp that has clearly lived a life and has the honest wear to prove it. Think “well-traveled veteran” more than museum piece.
What makes this Twin especially unique is the speaker configuration. This amp retains a matching pair of period Electro-Voice SRO speakers, installed by a Fender dealer when new (complete with original Electro-Voice SRO dealer sticker still present on the cabinet).
If you know vintage Fender amps, you know how uncommon this setup is. These vintage “coffee can” EV SROs are highly sought after for their massive clean headroom, exceptional clarity, tight low end, and incredible efficiency. Finding a matching period pair that has remained together in the same amp since the early 1970s is increasingly uncommon.
This amp has recently been serviced and gone through properly. It is functioning exactly as it should and sounds huge, full, and exceptionally clean — exactly what you would expect from a healthy EV-loaded Twin Reverb.
Recent service completed:
- Full electrolytic capacitor replacement
- New tremolo optocoupler (“roach”) installed – vibrato functioning correctly
- Fresh matched quad of power tubes
- All new preamp tubes
- Bias serviced and stabilized
- Power tube section resistors replaced for long-term reliability
- One Electro-Voice SRO professionally serviced/reconed by Midwest Speaker Repair
- Both original SRO speakers functioning properly
- Includes functioning vibrato/reverb footswitch (not original)
This amp is fully sorted and ready to play — not your average untouched vintage Twin that immediately needs service.
Weight: Approximately 90 lbs (yes, it’s a beast).
Pickup / Shipping:
Local pickup is strongly preferred due to size and weight. I am willing to ship at the buyer’s expense, but shipping, packing, and insurance for an amplifier of this size will be substantial.
Trade Interests (local only):
- Gibson Les Paul Standard / Traditional
- Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster
- Select high-end Fender/Gibson gear
Feel free to reach out with questions or if you would like additional photos/video of the amp in operation.
