2020 Surf Green Fender Vintera 60’s Stratocaster – Outstanding Example
This is an outstanding example of this model in fantastic condition, (“Not a mark on it!”), that plays great and looks great.
These Vintera models were originally introduced in 2019 and this is a 2020 specimen… despite what Fender marketing might have you believe, they have changed relatively little over the three iterations… but they are only offered each time in select/limited colors.
Value Proposition/Bottom line: Current production “Vintera III” Strats are $1,250… but they don’t’ come in Surf Green. If you want one of these with “60’s fretboard” in Surf Green, I understand the original Vintera I were the only time they were offered, and clean examples of these are now becoming rare on the market… let alone “standout” examples such as this one.
Condition: Guitar is exceptionally clean, with no dents or marks breaking through the finish in any area. When I got this about a year ago it still had the cellophane on the pickguard and trem cover, i.e. had basically been bought, stored, and never played, (essentially NOS). I’ve been playing it regularly, as it is such a sweet axe, so there is now normal play wear/scratching on the pickguard, but other than that, guitar is in pretty much “mint/like new shape”.
Features that make this guitar an “outstanding example”:
-Exceptional Condition: Clean / Not a mark
-Pau Ferro fretboard is stunning: This came to me all dried out and dusty… but I treated it multiple times with Music Nomad F-One oil and it now looks like fine Danish Teak furniture and feels smooth and silky, beautiful grain.
-No fret sprout: This (like many MiMs) came with a pretty annoying case of fret sprout. I hit it with a file and now it is smooth and sweet as a custom shop neck. Note: Considering that I am currently in extremely dry climate of Phoenix, wherever it ships in Continental USA is likely that it is not gonna get drier and sprout again.
-Choice “Flame-y Neck: extremely unusual for this relatively “budget line”, the piece of maple that ended up on this neck would not be out of place on a $4-5K Custom Shop instrument! If you look at it carefully in sunlight it has beautiful, delicate/intricate flame highlights dancing back and forth. Exceptional!
-Pro-level Setup: a 60-$100 value at least
-Nice Weight: Well balanced at “under 8 lbs” (many of them are “well over 8”)
Other specs are available online: 7.25” radius, medium C neck, etc.
Guitar is currently set up “floating” at Fender factory spec with a set of “.009’s” on it.
Guitar comes with the original Fender basic gig bag as shown.
This guitar is flat-out beautiful and will be a star jewel in your collection I’m sure.
Rock-on 4-Evah!
