Up for sale is a 1990’S (approx.1990-1993) Gibson Standard Reissue ES-295, originally Gold, but was refinished to a Yellowish Gold/ Black Sunburst. I am not the original owner, and I don’t know why it was refinished, but I assume they may have wanted the guitar to look more like a traditional jazz box perhaps. I looked up the serial number, and the Gibson website said it was made in 1992, in Nashville…I know for sure it's between 1990-1993 because that's when this edition was produced. The guitar sounds great either while unplugged or amplified. It came originally with the P-100 pick ups, and those are included with the guitar, but currently there are Jerry Sentell P-90’s mounted in the guitar…the guitar will fit either pairs of pick ups..The P-100 is a stacked humbucker designed to fit the footprint of a P-90 while eliminating the single coil hum. The guitar at one time had schaller tuners put on the headstock. The holes made for those tuners have been filled and since the guitar has been refinished, they do not really show. Original style Gibson Deluxe Tuners have been re-installed and are in Mint Condition and work perfectly. That is the only unoriginal piece of hardware on the guitar…again all the wiring and hardware aside from the correct replacement tuners are original. There are no dings or cracks of note. The binding is all there and in good shape. The fret board is in good condition, as well as the frets…It comes with the original hard shell case, which is of a high quality! Check out the pics! The P-100 Humbucker pick ups that also come with the guitar are pictured. These historic guitars are no longer made…you can have an excellent one for a very attractive and affordable price! The Red Memphis and Gold Bullion 90’s reissues of these guitars which are basically identical to this reissue other than the color and in some cases the tail piece, are listed on Reverb for no lower and than 7000 dollars and up.
