Epiphone Jared James Nichols Old Glory Les Paul Custom, Black Aged Gloss, Gig Bag - Used
Jared James Nichols grew up in Les Paul's hometown, plays without a pick, and has a tone that sounds like it came out of a different era. When Epiphone built him a signature guitar, the brief was specific: the body and styling of a 1955 Les Paul Custom, but with the raw simplicity of a Junior — one pickup, master volume, master tone, nothing in the way. The result is Old Glory, and it is one of the more interesting signature instruments Epiphone has produced in years.
The single Seymour Duncan P-90 does all the work, and it is more than capable of the job. Modeled after the first generation of hand-wound P-90s from Kalamazoo in the late 1940s, it has the midrange bite and presence that a humbucker cannot replicate — thick and warm at the core, with a clarity and harmonic richness that opens up further the harder you dig in. This guitar was built to wail, and in the right hands it absolutely does. Set up by our shop and ready to rock straight out of the case.
The mahogany body wears a Black Aged Gloss finish with traditional LP Custom-style multi-ply binding on the top and back, the clipped dovewing headstock carries the Split Diamond inlay and a white stinger stripe on the reverse, and the ebony fingerboard with pearloid block inlays looks and feels exactly right. The compensated Lightning Bar wraparound bridge keeps things simple and in tune.
Condition is Very Good with signs of cosmetic use consistent with the grade. Check the photos for specifics on wear. Comes with the original EpiLite gig bag and the signed certificate of authenticity.
