Fender Japan TL72-65 '72 Telecaster Reissue – Rare Sen Body – Natural – 1993-1994 MIJ
Take a look at this beautiful Fender Japan TL72-65 Telecaster Reissue in Natural finish, built in Japan in 1993-1994 and featuring the highly desirable Sen (Japanese Ash) body.
Among Fender Japan Telecasters, the TL72-65 has become one of the more sought-after vintage-spec models thanks to its combination of classic 1972 styling, lightweight resonant Sen body, maple neck, vintage 7.25" radius, large CBS logo, and traditional 3-saddle bridge. The grain on this example is especially attractive and shows exactly why these natural-finish Sen-body models have developed such a following.
This guitar is completely vintage in feel and appearance, with decades of honest play wear that give it tremendous character without sacrificing its overall presentation. The maple fretboard shows natural finish wear in the lower positions from years of use, creating the kind of authentic broken-in look that simply cannot be duplicated artificially. It has the appearance and feel of a well-loved vintage instrument rather than a modern guitar trying to look old.
Condition is very good overall. The primary items worth noting are finish cracks at both sides of the neck pocket and the aforementioned fretboard finish wear. The neck-pocket cracks appear to be finish-related and are common on bolt-on Fender-style guitars. Aside from these areas, the guitar remains remarkably clean for a 30+ year old instrument, with only typical pickguard wear and light signs of use.
