I have a 2020 ESP E-II Eclipse here. This is the Satin Black Burst model. I do not have the original hard shell case, but it has been matched with a PRS soft case that does a good job of protecting it.
Conditionally it looks nice. I will describe what I see.
The body top shows a small glossing spot on the satin matte finish in that common area below the two pickups. This is about a square inch in size. Beyond that I did not find any notable playwear. There is a little bit of soft surface swirling here and there, but I did not find any accumulated sheen or any built-up patterns of soft surface playwear. There are just traces of it scattered lightly throughout.
The body sides/edges show a little patch of surface rubbing near the lower strap button. These are not scratches, dings, or indentations. More so, the guitar strap has lightly rubbed against the satin finish and created a small shiny spot in that area. Beyond that I did not find any bumps, chips, or indentations, nor any buildup of soft swirling or surface scratches.
The body back shows no buckle rash or worming. There is a little bit of light surface playwear that does not break the finish, nor does it push into the finish as worming would. More so, there are little surface rubbing marks and line-shaped traces of use that are about the same intensity as light guitar pick strumming. That is simply how wear presents itself on satin finishes. It is not heavily concentrated. More so, there is a light scattering of it here and there. Overall, it is still a very nice-looking finish with no notable playwear. I did not find any dings, bumps, or chips.
The neck shaft contour has a small indentation-type mark on the side around the second fret area, along with a little bit of light scuffing around it. It is pretty minor and small, and I do not feel it while playing. Also note that the neck shaft contour on these guitars is satin finished as well, and over time satin finishes naturally become smoother and shinier from regular playing contact. I have cleaned the neck shaft with Music Nomad guitar polishing compound. That gives it a nice even lustrous appearance and removes any grime while still retaining the soft buttery feel of the satin finish. So no gloss was added, but the neck shaft will appear shinier than the rest of the guitar, which is normal for this model.
The setup plays nicely. The frets show no fret wear. The headstock looks great with no notable marks. The electronics are working as they should. The soft case is clean overall, though the zipper pulls have been shortened.
So this one rates an 8.8/10 and grades as very good. It is pretty much right on the threshold between very good and excellent. It is cleaner than most satin matte guitars I come across that have actually been played. I found no notable playwear and no buildup of any patterned wear. More so, everything I have described amounts to a light scattering of superficial signs of use on the satin finish, along with one small surface mark on the upper side contour of the neck shaft. There are no signs of abuse. It is structurally and sonically sound, plays great, and visually looks fantastic. The pictures do it justice.
It has a nice balance and certainly sounds articulate as ESP guitars are known for. But lacks nothing in the lower frequency spectrum. EMG active pickups also have that quality as well. So this guitar really articulates well with high gain.
Note that this listing may come down at any time as I am a multi-platform seller and do sell locally and on my own Site as well in an effort to keep sales fluid. State sales tax will be charged on Reverb sales when applicable, so factor that into your purchase.
I will immaculately pack it as well. I use quality shipping boxes, ample tape on all sides. And sufficient bubble wrap filler and bracing inside the box. And always Marked/denoted as fragile. I generally detune guitars 1/2 half step prior to shipment as well if needed.
Thank you for reading and considering!
