A beautiful and vibey 1950s Epiphone Zephyr Regent in classic sunburst finish, complete with its original vintage hardshell case. Built during Epiphone’s legendary New York era, the Zephyr Regent represents one of the company’s most elegant electric archtops—designed as a professional-grade jazz instrument with warm acoustic resonance, comfortable playability, and understated vintage styling.
This example is an excellent player with a comfortable feel, good action, and strong structural integrity. The guitar has clearly been played and enjoyed over the years but remains in very good functional condition. The wood throughout is in impressive shape for its age, with no major structural concerns to note. It has a lively, resonant feel acoustically and delivers the warm, articulate response these vintage Epiphone archtops are known for.
The guitar retains its classic single-cut hollowbody design, featuring a maple body, rosewood fingerboard with block inlays, floating rosewood bridge, trapeze tailpiece, and distinctive mid-century Epiphone appointments.

Additional Notes / Condition Disclosure
At some point in its life, this guitar appears to have been stored in a different case prior to returning to its original vintage hardshell case. As a result, there appears to be a mild cosmetic reaction between the finish/binding and the interior material of a previous case. In certain areas, you may notice traces of dark or black fabric-like material that seems lightly adhered to portions of the binding and finish. This is cosmetic in nature and has been photographed as clearly as possible for transparency.
As noted above, the guitar also exhibits typical vintage Epiphone binding aging, including areas of cracking, shrinkage, and separation. The most notable section is near the lower fingerboard extension around the 18th fret, where slight lifting/separation is present. This area has not impacted playability in our experience but is disclosed carefully for accuracy.
Despite these cosmetic age-related concerns, the guitar remains structurally very good, comfortable to play, and an excellent vintage player with beautiful New York-era Epiphone character.

Condition
Please review photos carefully, as they are an important part of the description.
Cosmetically, the biggest talking point is the binding. As commonly seen on many vintage Epiphone instruments of this era, there are multiple areas where the binding has cracked, shrunk, and begun separating in spots. We made every effort to photograph this clearly.
The most notable area is near the lower end of the fretboard around the 18th fret/body extension, where there is some separation and slight lifting of the fingerboard binding. Importantly, this area sits beyond where most players spend meaningful playing time, and it has not affected comfort during use. Still, it is being disclosed carefully for accuracy.
Outside of the binding deterioration, the guitar presents very well. The body and wood structure are in very nice shape overall, especially for a nearly 70+ year old instrument. Frets show honest wear consistent with age and use but remain in good functional condition with plenty of life for a comfortable playing experience.
Overall, this is a fantastic vintage player-grade Epiphone: structurally solid, visually striking, comfortable in hand, and full of old New York archtop character. A wonderful option for jazz, blues, Americana, recording, or anyone looking for an authentic 1950s Epiphone hollowbody with vintage charm.
