Up for consideration: a killer 2018 Fender Custom Shop "Willcutt" "The 63" Relic Stratocaster.

I'm a private seller, not a shop. I've played this guitar very gently; it has never left my house and has been maintained throughout by the esteemed David Neely of Neely Guitars in Hollywood.

This is one of the best Strats to come out of the Custom Shop in recent years. Willcutt Guitars in Lexington, KY commissioned the Custom Shop to replicate their real vintage '63 Strat, and the CS nailed it. The Josefina hand-wound pickups are the icing on the cake. This guitar has the vibe and quality of a MasterBuilt CS guitar for a fraction of the price. These currently retail for $4,800 at Willcutt; save a bundle on this barely played example.

One change from stock: I replaced the original white pickguard with a Custom Shop vintage-accurate tortoiseshell pickguard. The original white pickguard is included, so you can revert it at any time.

The rockabilly days of Buddy Holly were fading in 1963, right before the Beatles ushered in the British invasion and the 1965 Newport Festival when Dylan recognized the end of the folk boom. Jimi Hendrix played '63 Strats throughout his career, and Stevie Ray Vaughan's Number One featured a '63 Stratocaster body.

Willcutt Guitars has an incredible example of an original 1963 Stratocaster. The guitar served as a muse for anyone who played it, eliciting sounds of blues and rock and roll from eras past. It features a velvety C-shaped maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. The sound is similar to the True 62 but with slightly more bite. Willcutt worked with Mike Lewis (The Guru of Cool) at the Fender Custom Shop to commission '63 tributes of this iconic guitar.
