The Collings MT2 is their fully appointed A-model mandolin with full bindings and full gloss Honey Amber nitrocellulose finish. A show piece at the 2020 Winter NAMM Show, this rare fully torrefied A model features a carved Adirondack Red Spruce top and Premium Flamed Maple back and sides. The torrefaction process “bakes” the wood, similar to a kiln dry process. This cooks out the soft fibers and oil found in newer wood and turns the clock ahead. It mimics what would happen to the instrument over a long period of time and playing, opening up the wood to years of tone built right in right out of the case This Collings MT2 A has bark, chop, warmth and overall clarity you would expect with that old style broken in feel.
Aesthetics like the full gloss Honey Amber finish and fully bound Tortoise bindings make it stand out. The finish shows off the deep colors of the all torrefied woods. The wider 1 3/16″ nut width makes this joy to play, with comfort and a little extra string spacing for your fingers or bigger hands. The top of the line Waverly tuners are a great premium upgrade as well. With its superb tone, elegant stylings and unmatched playability, this MT2 will please the most discerning eyes and ears.
