Rosewood neck Strats have been a part of Fender's lineup for years now, and we have to admit, there's something very alluring about them both visually and in-hand. Paired with an aged Aztec Gold finish, in Fender's Deluxe Closet Classic aging (lots of weather checking but minimal dings, etc...), and an anodized gold pickguard, it simply looks gorgeous in person (the weather checking really looks great at different angles).
As mentioned, the first thing that captures attention when the guitar is in hand is its all-rosewood neck. With its worn finish on the back and subtly tapered shape ('57 Soft V / .85-.99"), it’s instantly inviting—drawing us in from the very first strum. The 9 1/2" radius and 6105 (narrow/tall) frets deliver a really smooth, sleek, and easy playing guitar.
And that first strum? Wow. This guitar is lively, resonant, and surprisingly loud when played acoustically. The trio of Custom Shop Fat 50s pickups deliver great twang and bite a la a 50s Strat, but as the name implies, with a fatter low-midrange to beef up the overall tone in each position. True to the feel of original '50s Strats, it has that slightly taut, responsive quality reminiscent of a great Tele in some respects..
A fantastic Stratocaster that would make players looking for a slightly atypically spec'd Strat - or anyone wanting a great looking, playing, and sounding Strat - very happy.
