Original 1986 Chapman Stick Polycarbonate, serial number #2053, in very good overall condition and fully functional.
Please note: a demonstration video is included at the end of the photo gallery.
This instrument was part of my professional studio and live work during the 1980s and 1990s, and was used extensively in my experimental/progressive projects.
It played an essential role in the studio album “Jaque Mateu” as well as later in the live recording “Lancelot”.
The Stick remains completely original, including:
• Original electronics
• Original hardware
• Original frets in excellent condition
• Original pickup assembly
• Original strap
• Original documentation/manual
This instrument has never been modified or altered in any way and retains all its original components and electronics.
The neck is perfectly stable and the instrument plays beautifully.
This early Stick model is constructed from black polycarbonate resin with internal steel reinforcement, characteristic of Stick instruments from this era.
Early Chapman Sticks from this period were still built in a highly artisanal way in relatively small numbers by Stick Enterprises, during a time when the instrument was still evolving and far from mass production. This gives these early instruments a particularly unique and handcrafted character.
Cosmetically it shows honest signs of age and professional use, fully consistent with a nearly 40-year-old instrument, but it has been carefully preserved over the years in a smoke-free studio environment.
I am also including a photo showing the string gauges and tuning configuration I have used over the years, combining a 6-string baritone guitar approach with an inverted 4-string bass section tuned to D#.
A sound demonstration video will be uploaded so buyers can hear the actual instrument.
Please note:
The original hard case is NOT included, as it deteriorated over time and could no longer be safely used.
This is not simply a Chapman Stick for sale, but a genuine early-era instrument with documented artistic and recording history.
Worldwide shipping available at buyer’s expense.
The instrument will be professionally packed, fully insured and shipped with tracking.
Any import taxes, customs duties or related fees are the responsibility of the buyer.
