Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple 6pc Drum Set - Shell Pack

For sale: Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple (AHM) 6-piece shell pack drum set. These drums are in EXCELLENT, near mint condition. The toms absolutely sing, and the bass drum is the best sounding kick drum I’ve ever owned.

I am only selling to make room for a new Yamaha Recording Custom drum set (all of the drum sets I own are maple shells, and I’ve been wanting to try a birch shell kit for a while, specifically the Recording Customs since I love Yamaha drums).

These drums are gorgeous, with Gold Champagne Sparkle lacquer finish. The sparkle finish is unique, because it’s NOT a wrap—it has a lacquored sparkle finish.

Here are the drums and sizes included with this shell pack (diameter x depth):

• 8” x 7” tom
• 10” x 7” tom
• 12” x 8” tom
• 14” x 13” floor tom
• 16” x 15” floor tom
• 22” x 18” bass drum

Included with the sale:

• Three (3) tom mounts for all three rack toms (Yamaha YESS tom ball clamp mounts)
• Six (6) floor tom legs for both floor toms (three legs per drum)
• One (1) bass drum tom mount (Yamaha YESS Mount Double Tom Holder)
• All drum heads that are the drums in the photos are included.
• *Not pictured: I had removed the original T-rod tension rods from the bass drum, and replaced with standard straight tension rods. But the original Yamaha T-rods will be included. (Note: Yamaha uses standard tension rods on the bottom two lugs for both the batter and resonant bass drum heads; I will include all original Yamaha tension rods: eight pairs (16) of T-rods, and two pairs (4) of the straight tension rods.)

*No other hardware/stands/drums/cymbals etc are included—this is a shell-pack only sale.

Here are some key features of the Yamaha Absolute Hybrid Maple (AHM) drums, straight from Yamaha:

• The “Absolute Hybrid shells consist of a core ply of wenge, a very hard and heavy wood native to Africa, wedged between plies of maple, known for its clear tone. This hybrid design delivers a rich, clear tone across a full dynamic range, from pianissimo to fortissimo.”
• Hook lugs “offer quick and easy head replacement, precision tuning and can readily withstand high-tension tuning. Lug bases are designed with a small footprint to maximize tone output from the hybrid shell.”
• YESS III mounting system for rack toms: “An evolutionary step up from our Y.E.S.S. II, the Y.E.S.S. III further reduces acoustic dampening, which allows the shell to vibrate more freely bringing out more of its natural sustain and volume.”
• 3.0 mm aluminum die-cast rims on all rack and floor toms “deliver a strong, tight sound with an extraordinary attack and decay.”
• Shell interiors are coated with an exclusive "Vintage Natural" finish for “enhanced tone and refined looks.”
• “The bearing edge angle on the bass drum differs from the angle on tom and snare shells. A 45-degree /R1.5 edge is used on the snare and toms to achieve a balanced tone, while the 30-degree/R1.5 edge on the bass drum creates a low-end tone, for a deeper, more powerful sound.”

Notes on their condition: These drums are in excellent condition. That said, I have played them, so I won’t quite say they are in “mint” condition—but they are definitely in excellent shape. The only blemish I feel needs to be pointed out is a very minor spot on the bass drum: I’ve tried to take photos from multiple angles, and I’ve tried taking video, but it’s almost impossible to capture the blemish on camera.
