This drum was one of the last “real” Tama Bell Brass drums ever made and according to the throw off and adjustable butt plate, we’re looking at 2008-2009 production year with 2009 being the final year. Featuring a massive 3mm bell brass shell and die-cast hoops, this heavy-duty, limited-run snare is designed to cut through high-volume mixes while producing unmatched resonance and solid low-end. These drums feature the exact same Tama Bell Brass shell as the production model. The thing that makes these unique (other than the badge) is the “Scorched Earth” finish on both the inside and outside of the shell. To my ears, this finish dries out the drum a little but compared to a “normal” version - which can actually work out well in the studio because you don’t need to muffle it as much. It’s definitely a bit darker.
