Offered here is a pristine Meyer NY USA Tenor with a .89 tip. This was originally a 5 but was recently refaced by Tommy Occhiuto to a Meyer 7*, (between a 7 and 8 on a Meyer measurement). Tommy's work is top notch as he treats each mouthpiece as if it were his own.... This Meyer is a Medium chamber Series A, from the 1960's-1970's era.
Included is the Original box with markings "EXCELLENT M.P." from the previous owner.

Here is some info I found online:

The vintage Meyer New York (NY) USA hard rubber tenor mouthpiece produces a classic, versatile sound characterized by a rich, dark, and warm core. It offers excellent dynamic versatility, featuring a full, lush low register, superb projection in the upper registers, and plenty of "pop" and edge when pushed.

Key Tone and Design Characteristics

  • Internal Geometry: The classic NY sound is heavily influenced by its internal shape, specifically a medium chamber and a carefully proportioned rollover baffle.
  • Flexibility: Unlike highly specialized modern pieces, the vintage Meyer allows the player to shape their own tone. It can easily shift from a warm, fluffy sub-tone to a punchy, articulate voice that easily cuts through a big band.
  • Response: These mouthpieces are famously free-blowing and slot notes easily, making articulation clear and maintaining a remarkably balanced harmonic profile.

Legacy and Popularity
While the Meyer hard rubber design is generally most famous on alto saxophone (played by legends like Cannonball Adderley), vintage Meyer NY tenor pieces are highly prized for similar reasons. They offer the perfect sweet spot for jazz players who want the body of a warm, traditional sound but with the added bite and projection required for modern performing environments.
