Onkyo / Takamine D-TK10 Shelf Speakers - Mahogany

These Onkyo D-TK10 monitors are a compact and stylish option for audio enthusiasts in search of a highly refined bookshelf size speaker. Developed in collaboration with Takamine Guitars and designed to harness resonance synergies between stringed instruments and loudspeakers, the D-TK10 features a two-way bass reflex design with a 4" woofer with frequency response of 50 Hz to 100 kHz and a sensitivity rating of 80 dB. They can handle up to 200 watts of power, making them suitable for various audio setups. The sensually curved cabinet is designed in conjunction with Takamine Guitars after the upper bout of an acoustic guitar, and the thin mahogany purposed to resonate similarly. They are extremely sweet, balanced and louder than they look.

I have 2 sets of these. These are in good condition but could just as well be listed as very good. One has a ding on the edge of bottom bout with 2 slight spots of finish clouding (see photos). Both slight imperfections acquired from storage rather than use and been barely driven compared to my other set. These unique, elegant, high-end monitors are extremely rare, particularly in the US, and only occasionally available from Japan, new for $3,200 – $3,500 (see eBay listing from today).
