Tele-Star Hollowbody Bass and Amp 1960s Japan

This is a cool short 30-in scale hollow body bass and a 3 watt solid state amplifier with a 6-in speaker made in Japan in the '60s. The electronics work on the bass, and the amplifier works but it's just very quiet, it should be louder although it's only three watts, the clips on YouTube sound louder. It needs some work.

Unfortunately the bass has some issues with the tail piece pressure pulling the body in and it's cracked and broken on the side as shown in the pictures. I tuned it up and played it but then it got flat and I had to turn it up again, I suspect it's pulling it in with the tension of the strings so I loosened the strings. It may hold tuning for a while after it's set up but I kind of would be skeptical and scared it would fall apart. There is also a shim under the neck to get playable action, and the bridge can be lowered since it's on the high side now. The tailpiece came unwelded and was screwed back together with three bolts and nuts which function fine.

This is a project set sold as is no returns or no refunds. If you're a luthier you could probably glue it all back and stabilize it without that much trouble. I don't know what else you'll get into but at least the electronics work. Just what you see, no case.
