1950's Gibson Double Neck Console Grand CG-520 steel guitar. Possibly a ‘56.
I’d personally say it’s in very good overall condition. It’s in better condition than any others I’ve personally ever seen out there.
All buttons, dials and switches appear to be functioning properly.
The case has some blemishes, but nothing severe — see images. All latches and the handle work great. There is no key for the latch locks.
There is no original case candy. However, there are some extra strings in the case that appear to be vintage strings. There is also some random notes and magazine tear outs of pedal steel guitars that the previous owner left.
The online brochure says, “A top flight, amazingly versatile multiple-neck steel guitar with immense power and the widest range of dynamics and tone colorings. Made with a sturdy, richly finished oak body, handsome black-and-white bindings, and nickel-plated metal parts.
Features: Two eight-string necks… fast fingertip action. Two step construction for eash accessibility to each finger-board. Steel tuning framework for accurate tuning at all times. Gibson “4-8-4” highly specialized, magnetic, high impedance, powerful pickups. Separate tone and volume controls for each neck. Four-way tone-selector toggle switch on each neck. Reversible controls for instant tone change from bass to treble or treble to base. Audio cut-off/stutter switch for added tonal effects. The stutter switch can be used as an effect to hit rapidly and repeatedly during a sustained note.
11 ¾” wide, 34 ⅞” long, 3 ½” deep…
24 3/3” scale, 36 frets.”
