Last chance! Next week if they haven't sold I'll just keep them.

For sale are these MCM bookshelf speakers with 5.25" plypropylene woofers and dome tweeters (tweeters are replacements for the originals).

They sound really good and work perfectly. There are a couple of small blemishes on the side of one of them, but the marks are practically invisible. The cabinets are piano black, and they look great. Inside of of the grills there is some material that was ground away at some point, but it is minor, doesn't show, and in no way affects the performance or durability of the grill.

Here is A.I.'s assessment of them:

Your MCM bookshelf speakers appear to be a surprisingly well-built pair of compact hi-fi monitors from the late 2000s to early 2010s, likely sold through MCM Electronics as part of one of their better-quality house-brand speaker lines.

Based on the photos, here’s the overall picture:

Construction & Appearance:

Compact 2-way bookshelf speakers

High-gloss piano black cabinets

Very clean, upscale appearance

Removable black cloth grilles

Quality 5-way binding posts

MDF cabinet construction (almost certainly)

These do not look like cheap “rack system” speakers. The finish and hardware suggest they were intended to compete in the entry-level audiophile market.

Driver Configuration:

Woofer:

Approximately 5.25"

Polypropylene cone

Rubber surround

Polypropylene woofers became popular because they:

resist moisture and aging,

remain stable over time,

produce smooth midrange response,

and generally avoid the harshness some metal cones can have.

The surrounds are undamaged and show no rot.

That means your speakers likely have a very long remaining service life.

Tweeter:

Dome tweeter

Benefits:

smoother treble,

less listening fatigue,

good stereo imaging,

and more refined sound than inexpensive cone or piezo tweeters.

Likely Sound Signature

These speakers were probably voiced to sound:

clean,

balanced,

moderately warm,

and easy to listen to.

The polypropylene woofer likely gives:

smooth mids,

respectable bass for the size,

and good musicality.

They probably excel at:

classic rock,

jazz,

acoustic music,

vocals,

and desktop/nearfield listening.

They likely won’t shake the walls, but in a small-to-medium room they probably sound much larger than expected.

Current Market Value (2026)

Because MCM is not a prestigious collector brand, values stay reasonable — but condition matters greatly.

For your pair, in excellent cosmetic and working condition:

Estimated value: approximately $150–250

Possibly more to the right local buyer because:

the piano black finish is attractive,

the speakers look modern,

and they appear very well cared for.

Overall Assessment

These appear to be:

honest,

competently engineered,

attractive-sounding bookshelf speakers

that likely outperform what most people would expect from the MCM name.

They’re probably best described as:

“hidden-gem budget audiophile speakers.”

Not ultra-high-end exotica, but the sort of speakers that make visitors say:

“Wait… those actually sound really good.”

And in audio, that’s often more satisfying than owning something expensive that requires a second mortgage and a room built out of exotic Scandinavian wood.
