This 1946 Gibson Southern Jumbo in Sunburst is a post-war slope-shoulder dreadnought with a strong, open voice and a direct, woody response. The spruce top and mahogany back and sides produce a dry fundamental with a warm low end and clear midrange, giving it a focused and balanced character. It has seen a number of repairs over time, including a replacement bridge and bridge plate, a neck set, a refret, and a reglued X brace. Several cracks on the top and back have been professionally addressed with maple cleats, along with a repaired crack on the back treble side. The top has received a full overspray, and previously installed tailpiece holes have been plugged and finished.
