Vintage Rickenbacker 4001 in Fireglo from the personal collection of a lifelong Rush and progressive-rock fan who spent decades building a remarkably coherent setup around high-end basses, analog synths, and late-70s/80s music technology. This bass lived alongside a Newburgh Steinberger XL-2, vintage Moog synthesizers, a Roland Juno-106, and an early Kubicki Ex-Factor in a room that was very clearly assembled by somebody who knew exactly what he liked and stayed loyal to it for years. If you know older Rickenbackers, you already understand the difference between a bass like this and a polished collector piece that spent its life under a bed. This one was played, kept nearby, and remained part of an actively used setup for decades. It still carries that feeling when you pick it up. Fully functional with honest vintage player wear throughout consistent with age and long-term use, including surface scratches, finish wear, hardware oxidation, buckle rash, and edge wear visible in the photos. Nothing about it feels neglected or abused. It feels like a real working instrument that stayed with the same owner for a very long time. The jack plate shows heavy surface scratching and wear around the output area, and the serial markings are partially obscured. Please review photos carefully. The original owner passed away recently at age 57. His son leaves for Norwich University and Army ROTC this fall, and part of the collection is being released to help support that next chapter. I realize instruments like this do not really belong to any one person forever. They pass through the hands of people who understand them, then move on to the next caretaker. This one deserves somebody who understands exactly why old Rickenbackers became part of progressive rock mythology in the first place. Includes strap shown in photos.
