Gibson Custom: Jimmy Page’s Latest Signature Model, the “Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Doubleneck VOS”

Jimmy Page’s 1969 EDS-1275 Doubleneck is an instantly recognizable, iconic guitar. The image of Jimmy playing this guitar on stage with Led Zeppelin is etched into rock history. Although Gibson began manufacturing double-neck electric guitars in 1958, it was Jimmy who made the EDS-1275 special, and from the day he picked it up, it became a special model for Gibson as well.

The EDS-1275 was used to perform both the 6-string and 12-string acoustic and electric parts of “Stairway to Heaven” during live performances. It also played a key role in songs such as “The Song Remains the Same,” “The Rain Song,” “Celebration Day,” and “Tangerine,” and was most recently used during the November 2023 performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Gibson Custom’s “Jimmy Page EDS-1275” accurately reproduces the original EDS-1275 through a fusion of the latest 3D scanning technology and Gibson’s renowned craftsmanship. This model recreates the appearance of the guitar as it was when Jimmy first acquired it, featuring a VOS (Vintage Original Scene) finish with no aging treatment applied.

The Jimmy Page EDS-1275 features a one-piece mahogany double-cutaway body, offering easy access to both the 12-string and 6-string necks. The neck features a long tenon joint glued with hide glue, and the neck profile has been precisely recreated based on 3D scan data of the original guitar. The fingerboard is made of Indian rosewood with binding, medium-jumbo frets, and cellulose nitrate parallelogram inlays, featuring a 12-inch radius suitable for both chord strumming and solo string bends.

The headstock features a 17-degree angle and reproduces the original logo style, and is equipped with Kluson® double-line, double-ring tuners.

The electronics have also been accurately recreated, perfectly reproducing the legendary sound character of Jimmy’s EDS-1275. The 6-string side is equipped with a Jimmy Page EDS-1275 Custom Backer featuring double black bobbins and Alnico 5 magnets, while the 12-string side uses a covered pickup of the same type. CTS® potentiometers and ceramic capacitors—standard for this era—are used for the volume and tone controls, while the pickup selector switch, neck selector switch, and output jack are all Switchcraft® components.

Includes a Gibson Custom hardshell case, a vintage leather strap, and a certificate of authenticity featuring a photograph by photographer Barry Wenzel.
