I was an apprentice to Master Luthier Greg Curbow in the early to mid 2000s. Greg had this guitar hanging in the front room of his shop. He told me that he built this custom guitar for someone in a barn on his grandmother's property that he turned into a guitar building shop in Morganton Georgia (not far from where his permanent shop would be). He said he saw it on eBay 12 years later, and bought it back.

The signature on the headstock is just that, a signature with a paint pen. This was before he had his decals that were on the basses made when production ramped up in 1994.

It has an ebony scalloped fretboard, very cool sounding Ultrasonic pickups in a H S S configuration. Just a very cool guitar.

After Greg passed away, his widow Margaret gifted me this guitar. I was blown away and over the moon thankful.

The chip in the headstock was an eyesore though, so once I had possession of it, I sanded just enough off to take the chip off. That is why the tip of the headstock has that angle on the left side.

There is a paint chip I tried to capture by the switches and knobs. The owner of this guitar from before him buying it back definitely played it as their regular axe, but it is still in very nice condition.

I have only played this a handful of times since it has been in my possession. I just can't get used to the scalloped frets, it's just not my thing.

So here I am 18 years later, and I feel bad that it is never ever played. I think it's time to let someone else who loves this style of guitar to love it and put it to use. It's literally just sitting in a gig bag and it's time for me to let it go. I have nobody to pass this on to that would appreciate it.
