Known Issues

As is common on most of these decks, there is a low decibel white noise floor in the background of the headphone output which does not effect the line out (RCA) signal. Disclosed here regardless for transparency.

General Info

The Tascam Porta 02 MKII is a 4-track analog cassette recorder designed for musicians and educators seeking an affordable multitrack recording solution. It supports 2-track simultaneous recording using standard Type II (chrome) cassettes at a tape speed of 4.8 cm/s (1 7/8 ips).  It features two 1/4" mic/line inputs, one of which is a Hi-Z guitar input for direct instrument recording.  The unit includes a 4-channel mixer with level and pan controls, dedicated linear faders, a headphone output with independent level control, and stereo/mono switching. It requires an external 12V DC power supply and has RCA stereo outputs. The design is compact (305 × 64 × 205 mm).
