UP for grabs is this pair of Electro Voi e 15" TRX15s...

These two were recently refabricated at PMR in Ohio with all new OEM/ AMERICAN components.

There are no aftermarket market, replacement, import or Chyna junk in these but only AMERICAN components...

Fellas', even if you dont buy from me- buy American!

EVERYTHING that wasn't magnet or metal was replaced ,including tweeter diaphragms, and upgraded air core inductors, poly film caps, whizzers, and that awesome rare ( and expensive) new EV15" RTV wide range cone...

The frames and magnets were dismantled and painted.Magnetic gaps were verified with a gauss/ flux probe and measured just fine.

Theres a lot of work in this pair.I'll start with components descriptions...

*frames-aluminu.

*magnetic composition-ceramic.

*front gaskets- yes

*surround- sealed textile

* cone- Repressed pulp

*cone profile- straight/conical smooth body

*Cone model- EV 15" RTV/ edge resonance dampeners

*whizzer cone- >4" diameter

*Litz wires- .050" copper

*spider assembly- treated textile flat profile

*voice coil diameter- 2 1/2"

* voice coil formers- aluminum/ radially vented

*voice coil impedance-8 ohms

*power- 100 watts

That'll give you guys a good idea of what's inside and what it'll sound like.

These are BETTER than when new!

A few cool points about these....

ALL of the Litz wires are COPPER.... This is far superior to the usual/ industry standard/gray/silver "pot metal" litz, which does nothing but smudge and smear the signal......

This stuff allows the speaker to receive a pure to signal program.

Also- the cones on these are the most recent Electro Voice wide range 15" cones...

What makes these sound so good is two fold-

These have the RTV edge treatment dampener in the fold of the CLOTH surround..

The surround is sealed and dampened, and has that rubber-like molding applied to the inner surround fold. This dampens out any reading cone edge resonance issues and removes those secondary " Ghost-Notes".....

Plus- the cone pulp is a half century of research in order to achieve a pulp recipe that sounds this pure. It contains fiberglass, kapok, and other special dampeners and binders to provide this fidelity.

Then-. These have a rather large and new whizzer cone, which extends the response another octave out past what just the main cone alone can propagate.Instead of the square cut felt inner suspension, these have an actual flat profile treated textile spider ( visible),...These are only here to keep debris from getting into the voice coil, as this design doesn't have dust caps..

THEN the tweeters,....

When I obtained them, one was bad, so I just went ahead and replaced them in pairs since I was in the neighborhood..

I wiggled the pole plates until I had max output, then added ferro-fluid into the voice coil gaps , and tightened the mounting bolts...Nice and CRISP now..

Then- the next point would be the crossovers..

I tossed out the old caps and inductors, and replaced everything with AIR core inductors, and poly film Caps... These have an L-pad so that you can control volume and don'\t have fixed value power resistors.

The old electrolytic caps and iron core inductors did nothing but smudge and smear the signal...

This upgrade allows these drivers to get the purist signal possible..

Now, since these have 4 terminals, I took advantage of this to our advantage and make them as useful as possible in different modes of operation...

The woofers get the full spectrum, and naturally roll off out past the whizzer cones response.... Then, the tweeters have TWELVE dB/oct. crossovers.A coil, and a capacitor, which blocks the lower frequencies rather quickly...

There are terminals numbered as #1, #2, #3, and #4.

#1 is the main + input/signal terminal..... #2 is the system ground. #3 is the "control" leg of the L-Pad.and the + of the tweeter/ tweeter input.... and #4 is the tweeters + signal AFTER the crossover network.

The reason it's this way is- To operate the included tweeter / l/pad volume controls, you simply place them across terminals 2,3, and 4, and you can dial in the tweeters level and use it through the crossover..

The L-pad can be mounted anywhere, and I even numbered the L-pads, and you can extend the wires if you want

OR- if you want to run the tweeter at full volume, simply place a wire across 3 and 4..

Basically, in order- the speaker's numbers 2,3,and 4 are like 1,2 and 3 on a typical L-pad circuit.

I also printed the schematic and glued them onto the sheet foam that the crossovers are mounted on to isolate the components from vibration..

Pretty cool right?

Guys, these really are greater than the sum of their parts... These are basically a new EV15SRO woofer, with the BIG ALNICO magnet tweeters. These are the BIG magnet models, and play LOUD!

I tried them in an 8x8 open baffle, and the sound was tremendous! For a 15" 2 way coaxial, these are very pleasant to listen to

I'm including my 15 day " NO GAMBLE" return option from delivery date (((less customer damage))) if for ANY REASON you simply don't like what you just bought, or you disagree with ANY of this!

ANY questions or concerns, just ask.

THANKS GUYS!!!
