Fender Bassman 1968 - Black with Silverface
The 1968 Fender Bassman 50 Silverface is a legendary, rare, vintage amplifier with a classic sound that has long been the cornerstone of bass and guitar amps. This is classic USA Fender built quality and reliability
The 1968 Fender Bassman 50 offers a distinct tone of tube driven warmth that musicians have cherished for decades. This amp represents a time when music was raw, authentic, and full of soul. It delivers a robust, punchy sound that cuts through the mix with precision. Whether you're chasing the perfect clean tone or a gritty, overdriven sound, the Fender Bassman 1968 delivers with exceptional clarity and power.
This Fender Bassman is a 50-watt tube amp, piggybacking on a separate Fender cabinet containing the rare 2 X 15” speakers in a horizontal arrangement. It offers distinct and separate "Bass Instrument" and "Normal" channels. It has four inputs – two for each channel.
This Fender Bassman contains the legendary AB165 circuit which is hand wired and highly prized for its extra gain and midrange presence. The AB165 Bassman channels are in phase and can be used together. It uses two 6L6 power tubes. The bass channel features a deep switch that can remove the lowest frequencies, which is practical when you’re playing loud and using different speaker cabinets where you need to adjust the lower bass. The normal channel is more relevant for guitar players.
Jumping channels in the AB165 Bassman will give you a wider spectrum of tones than by using just one channel. You may for example use the bass channel for the deepest bass tones and the normal channel for sparkling clean sound with bright switch on and zero bass, giving you an extremely full and meaty tone which you won’t get using just one channel. A closed or semi-closed speaker cabinet is recommended for this setting.
While originally designed for bass, the Bassman became legendary in guitar circles because of its clarity, responsiveness, and full-bodied sound. It delivers a powerful, clean tone making it a favorite among guitarists who value clarity and responsiveness—especially when using effects pedals.
The Bassman 50 is designed for those who seek a classic sound. Musicians appreciate its robust build and straightforward controls, making it an ideal choice for both stage and studio performances. The Bassman’s versatile tone shaping capabilities allow for a wide range of sonic possibilities, from smooth jazz to hard-hitting rock. With its enduring appeal and iconic status, this amplifier continues to inspire musicians around the globe.
This amp and speaker box are clean. No dents, tears, or stains.
