Roland MC-09 Phrase Lab groovebox in very nice condition. Comes with original manual, and original power adapter.
The MC-09 PhraseLab is a creative all-in-one tool combining an analog modeling synth, 32-step sequencer, four-part audio looper, and effects processor. Released in 2002, it’s built around Roland’s TB-303 emulation engine , making it a budget-accessible way to get that classic acid bassline sound.
The synth section covers monophonic bass and lead voices plus polyphonic rhythm sounds, with six hands-on knobs controlling tuning, envelope mod, accent, cutoff, resonance, and decay. You get 128 Lead presets, 128 Bass presets, and 10 Rhythm tones onboard.
The four-part looper includes four faders for real-time mix control, and drums can be programmed using Roland’s classic TR-REC step method. Effects include Filter, Isolator, Phaser, Slicer, Overdrive, Distortion, and Ring Modulator.
MIDI In/Out makes it easy to integrate with the rest of your gear , and the unique Process Patch feature lets it record and replay the exact sequence of steps you used to build a loop — great for recreating performances.
These were only released in limited numbers in the USA, so most you’ll find are imports from Japan. A quirky, underrated little box with a lot of creative depth.
